Sazi Bongwe was born and raised in Johannesburg, South Africa. He studied English Literature at Harvard College and Art History at Oxford University as a Rhodes Scholar.

His essays have been published in The New York Review of Books (forthcoming), Equator, The Nation, Africa is a Country and The Mail & Guardian.

He is at work on his first fiction.
